We hosted the MIT Spokes group. After their arrival and a meal, we went to the local July 4 fireworks display. They presented and interacted with young people at the Newton Public Library. I heard positive reports from parents of attendees and also positive reports from Spokes about the attendees. We had a wonderful time with thes energetic, bright young people.

Our experience with MIT Spokes has been fantastic. They were prepared with great hands on activities and an enthusiasm for the content. Working hard all day to offer 3 different sessions and allow participants to rotate through gave our students a good breadth of experiences. This is a fantastic program that we hope continues for many years.

The Challenger Learning Center of Kentucky in Hazard was once again thrilled to host the MIT Spokes Learning Festival on June 13 & 14 here at our Center. The Spokes team provided four excellent workshops during the two day festival and we had approximately 70 students attend from throughout our region. This made the fourth Spokes group that we have hosted here at our Center and I always think it provides such a great opportunity for our young people in rural eastern Kentucky to interact with students who attend the one of the most prestigious Universities in the WORLD!! It proves to our students that they are also smart and talented and have the potential of advancing their education and accomplishing great things. Thanks to the Spokes team!! Wishing them well wishes as they continue their trek across America and look forward to hosting the 2019 Spokes team next June!

We had a great time with the 8 MIT Spokes students at the Louisa County Public Library. The students did an amazing job teaching our young folks about STEM. We hope they will decide to return again next year!!!
