Hello Spokes 2020 supporters!
We hope you all are doing very well and staying safe. Thank you for your kind support for our journey! Obviously, due to COVID-19, we were not able to go on the trip this year. However, we still hope to support students and their STEM journeys!
As a team, we’ve found many opportunities that are already doing an amazing job supporting students. Thus, we have decided to not continue this year’s Spokes program in a virtual format over the summer. We’d like to direct you to some other online opportunities for K-12 education this summer that are available. Most prominently, we recommend looking into CovEd, a free program started by MIT and Harvard students for K-12 students across the country during this time of quarantine. In addition to matching K-12 students with student mentors and tutors at top colleges and companies around the nation, CovEd has hosted activities such as a Career Exploration Day with a panel of individuals who work in STEM, provided other great online resources for student learning and educational activities, and is planning more activities which will be announced around late June. Please visit their website if you or students you know would be interested!
Thank you again for your support! We’re sad that we couldn’t come visit in person this summer, but we wish you all the best and hope that the Spokes program will be able to resume normally in future years!
Best wishes,
MIT 2020 Spokes Team
