Day 9: What is rest, really?

Updated: Jun 8, 2019

Today is finally our first rest day, so clearly there is no better time to get things done! After a night of watching Napoleon Dynamite, we slept in for the first time in a week. Then I made a Kuhl breakfast staple, Huevos Rancheros, for the team. After devouring two dozen eggs, we decided we should probably make sure our workshops things worked, so we worked through that for a few productive hours, which went pretty well.

So, over the past few days we realized that Burt, my bike, was squeaking and singing pretty bad, and, in search of wifi and adventure, we took off for Roanoke.

Rest days are for squeezing in rest whenever there is time

In Roanoke, we find a place to get the bikes fixed, which just happens to be next to a used book store (yay!) which is closed (nooo). While we waited, we found a cool coffeeshop down the street called the little green hive, where we all got smoothies. (summertime daydream tastes just like it sounds). Unfortunately, in all the commotion of leaving, we lost a very important file folder with lots of our receipts (sorry Sandi), which put a bit of the damper on the day.

At the end of the day we went back for a nice home-cooked meal from Mike and Wendy, and fell into a good nights sleep.

SPECIAL FEATURE: Things Erin is not Allergic To

1: Cats

look at those eyes

2: Eggs - She ate at least three

3: Milk - She had a cappuccino one morning

4: Strawberries - We haven't had any yet but I'm pretty sure she's not allergic to these either
