Day 70: Sometimes We Do Things Other Than Biking

Saturday, August 3, 2019

By: Erin Leydon

Today, the team enjoyed South Lake Tahoe! First, five of us (me, Maile, Leah, Devin, and Bill) got up at 2 AM, and I drove them to the Mt. Tallac Trailhead. They all enjoyed a pre-dawn five mile hike before enjoying the sunrise from the top. I couldn't do the hike because of an ankle injury, so I watched the sunrise from below. Here are some pictures:

After the sunrise, I explored some more of Lake Tahoe while I waited for the other four to finish their five mile hike back down the mountain. I found a lovely place for some yoga as well as a super clear creek to play in. Then, I picked up the hikers and dropped them off at Denny's and then drove the rest of the team from First Baptist Church (where we stayed the night) to Denny's. We all enjoyed a great breakfast, but a few of us were a little tired:

After breakfast, we all returned to the church, where many of us took naps. Then, we cooked a delicious dinner of eggplant parmesan, and several of us drove to Zephyr Beach to watch the sunset. It was absolutely gorgeous and a lot of fun to watch from the water. Afterwards, we were all pretty tired, so we returned to the church to get to sleep as early as possible before biking tomorrow. It was a perfectly restful day, and I can't wait to see what tomorrow has in store. Thanks for reading!
