It is incredible how the wind can influence biking so much.
The first part of today was really great! We had an amazing breakfast that Bill prepared for us the morning, it was a type of breakfast "enchilada".
After that, we headed to the road and we were going downhill most of the time and this made us go really fast.
We were going to stop a little pass half way through the day to have lunch and get some gatorades to boost our energy for the rest of the day. However, the other group (the group that goes first and is significantly faster than the "fast group") decided to continue without lunch break, so they were planning to get to the next campground at 1:30 approx.
We (The "fast group") stopped for lunch as usual and we continue biking. Right after lunch there was a huge hill that we crossed and right after our worst enemy appeared: High winds against us...
There were approximately 30 miles mostly downhill with and intense head wind. It was really sad going downhill because we were suppose to go fast but the wind stopped and as all fluid friction forces, the faster you go, the stronger the force gets. In addition to the slowing down the pace, the wind also dried our mouths and lips, we ran out of water really fast and we weren't close to finish, so we stopped at a house to ask for more water.
When we arrived to the campground Erin (who was driving that day) told us that the other group made it really late because of the head wind and our group was extremely exhausted.
In conclusion, even if it is downhill, wind is a strong force that requires mental strength to face it all day...
